Get to Know Dr. Stephanie Flinchum

Tulsa Oklahoma dentist Stephanie Flinchum D M D

Dr. Flinchum says that her ideal relationship with a dental patient is a two-way street, where both parties learn from and help each other. This allows her to provide very personalized and effective care, and the dental patient enjoys a smooth experience as well as a great result. She looks forward to forming this kind of bond with you, and ahead of your first visit, you can start getting to know her below.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Flinchum was interested in dentistry from a very early age, and when she did a “Past, Present, and Future” project while in middle school, she selected orthodontics as her profession. However, when she got braces herself, she didn’t have the best experience. After the treatment was over, she noticed that her jaw was popping, so she asked her orthodontist about it. He simply told her, “Don’t chew gum,” and this left her feeling blown off and unsatisfied. This motivated her to become the kind of dentist that always listens to their patients and makes them feel comfortable reaching out no matter what they need.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Outside view of dental school building

Dr. Flinchum graduated from Southwest Missouri State before going on to earn her dental degree from the University of Kentucky. She then completed an Advanced General Dentistry Residency at Idaho State University, which was unique compared to other programs because it involved working in a private practice as opposed to a hospital like other residencies. She believed this would be more applicable to her future.

Dr. Flinchum has kept up with her education over the years, and today, she has certifications in both Invisalign and laser dentistry.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Doctor Flinchum and her husband

Dr. Flinchum and her husband have been married for 15+ years, and they are the proud parents of a cat, multiple dogs, and a few reptiles. They (sans pets) like to go trail running together and have recently started getting into obstacle course racing. Back at home, she likes to listen to all types of audiobooks, bake (primarily so she can eat what she just made), and crochet.
